Linking to Other Databases
Set up links to other databases to which your library subscribes. Linking to another resource will allow you to pass your Credo Reference search term directly through to the results page of another database. These links can currently only be found on entry pages.
You do not need to add your proxy to these links. The proxy value that Infobase has on file for your account will be added automatically. If the info is outdated, please contact support@credoreference.com.
**The URLs required to pass a search term to your other databases are URLs that execute a search, rather than the simple URL you might use to link to a database. For a list of hundreds of database URLs that you can use to “Link to other databases”, please contact: support@credoreference.com **
Authorized Admins can log into the Infobase Admin site to update their linking. The credentials are the same as your legacy Credo Admin credentials.
- Go to https://admin.infobase.com and find Credo in your "My Resources" list:
2. Click on Product Settings > Link to other databases:
Adding New Links:
Click the teal "Add New Link" button in the upper right. This will bring up a screen with two fields:
- Display Text - The name of the linked resource, which will display to the user.
- Link Destination - The URL of the resource. If you want the link to run a search, it must have a search parameter in the format ={0}.
- Do not add your proxy, as it is added automatically. If you do not want a proxy added, as for a free resource or OPAC, write noproxy: at the beginning of the link, ie:
noproxy:https://www.google.com/search?as_q={0}
After entering the two values, click save - please note that it's on the left, not the right as is typical.
To find the correct value for a search link, you can usually run a search in the resource you wish to link to, copy the URL from the address bar or the permalink function, and replace your search term with {0}. For example:
- Go to https://www.jstor.org
- Run a search for brain
- The URL in the address bar is https://www.jstor.org/action/doBasicSearch?Query=brain
- Replace "brain" with "{0}"
- Use https://www.jstor.org/action/doBasicSearch?Query={0} in the Link Destination field.

Editing Current Links:
- Once you have links set up, look for the "Edit" function under "Actions" in the resource row.
- Edit display text or link as described above
After entering the two values, click save - please note that it's on the left, not the right as is typical.
Set Link Databases Order
- Once you have more than one link set up, look for the "Set Link Databases Order" button in the upper right.
- Drag and drop the resources to reset the order.
