Occasionally we see problems accessing the content or full functionality of the Credo platforms in IE 8, 9, and 10. Here are some tips for troubleshooting.
The user platform:
Here are some things to check:
1. Is Internet Explorer running in "Compatibility Mode"? This can make the browser function like an earlier, unsupported version of IE. You can check this by going to the gear menu > F12 developer tools, and looking for the "Browser Mode" information. If it is in compatibility mode, try changing it to the non-compatibility version of the browser.
2. Does the browser support Javascript? Going to this page in the affected browser is an easy way to tell: http://enable-javascript.com/. The content in the Credo platforms is rendered with Javascript, so if it's disabled or blocked the site will not be usable.
3. Add http://search.credoreference.com (for Credo Online Reference Service) or http://literati.credoreference.com (for Literati) to the browser's "Trusted Sites," in Internet Options > Security > Trusted Sites > Sites page, and uncheck the "require server verification (https:)" box.
4. If there is any anti-virus or other security software associated with the browser, add the URLs in step 3 to the trusted sites list or whitelist in these systems.
5. Please email support@credoreference.com for further help.
The Admin platform:
Statistics reports and MARC records are unavailable in IE 8. There is a problem with long running processes like report generation timing out. Some installer applications update the ReceiveTimeout setting to only a few seconds (normally much longer) and this can cause issues. We hope to have this resolved soon, but you can also have your technical staff repair the problem as described here; we recommend applying them in the order below:
1. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/181050
2. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813827
End of Support
In accordance with Microsoft's decision to end support for previous versions of IE as of January 2016, we are no longer actively supporting these browser versions. Please contact support@credoreference.com with any questions or concerns.
