Credo Embeds

Credo Embeds let you plant Credo content on your LMS (Learning Management System), VLE (Virtual Learning Environment), LibGuides, or other guides/websites.  You can use any Credo article, Topic Page, or Mind Map on these sites, to give students the background information they need to orient them to a course or topic. Please note that you are responsible for conforming with Credo’s Terms of Use.

To get started, send support@credoreference.com the URL of your portal to be added as a referrer or "known source." This one-time set-up step will ensure that the contents of the embedded articles will appear and that users will be able to link seamlessly from the embedded article back to Credo. You can double-check in the embed code box on the platform, under "Sites authorized for seamless embedding", to see if the correct site has been enabled. Note that the character % in this box is a wildcard that means "any URL starting with this domain." For a public site, sending us the domain will not enable seamless access, but will ensure that your usage is captured correctly.

For more on promoting the embed function with your staff or faculty, see our Embeds Toolbox page.

How to Embed:

  1. In the Credo user interface, find an article, Topic Page, or Mind Map you wish to embed.

  2. Click on the Embed icon (</>) at the top right of the article or Topic Page text (highlighted in orange in the screenshot below) or Mind Map.Embed_Step_1

  3. Copy the full Embed Code.

  1. In your LMS, create an article, or find an existing article, and open the "HTML Editor" or "HTML View" option. Paste the code into this view. If you have trouble saving the code, ask your LMS Admin if your instructor account has permission to add scripts.

To post on a public page, find the HTML option in the page editor and paste the embed code there. LibGuides boxes can also be created using the "Media/Widget" option.

Troubleshooting

For help with embedding issues, see this FAQ or contact support@credoreference.com.

Changing the Size

To change the size of your embedded entry or Topic Page, change the pixel value in the “height” parameter of the code. (Leaving the width as 100% will maintain the correct height/width ratio). For example, to double the size, change the height value to 800 as below:

<iframe style="border:0" src="https://search.credoreference.com/content/entry/collinsglvict/elizabeth_garrett_anderson/0.embed?institutionId=8019" width="100%" height="800" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe>

To change the size of your embedded Mind Map, change the pixel value in your height and width. Below we've doubled the box height to 1000 pixels.

 <iframe src="https://search.credoreference.com/content/entry/collinsglvict/elizabeth_garrett_anderson/0.embed?institutionId=8019" width="100%" height="1000" style="border: 0;" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"&gt;</iframe>

Effect on usage stats

  • Embedded Entry: Each view of the page that the Credo entry is embedded on counts as a session, an entry view, and a page view in your Credo custom stats reports. In COUNTER R4, the BR2 will capture this usage as one section request. In COUNTER R5, the usage will be logged as one Item Request.
  • Embedded Topic Page: On an LMS which is a known source (see above), a Topic Page counts as a session, an entry view, and a page view. Some Topic Pages may count as two entry views, since a definition article is displayed along with the main article. On a public page or an LMS which is not a known source, views may not be attributed to your account. In COUNTER R4, the BR2 will capture this usage as one or two Section Requests. In COUNTER R5, the usage will be logged as one or two Item Requests.
  • Embedded Mind Map: Counts as a session and page view only; not captured in COUNTER R4 or R5.
