Credo Embeds

Credo Embeds let you plant Credo content on your LMS (Learning Management System), VLE (Virtual Learning Environment), LibGuides, or other guides/websites.  You can use any Credo article or Mind Map on these sites, to give students the background information they need to orient them to a course or topic. Please note that you are responsible for conforming with Infobase’s Terms of Use.

Referring URL Authentication

If you are putting the embed on a private page, you can send support@credoreference.com the URL of your portal to be added as a referrer or "known source." This one-time set-up step will ensure that the contents of the embedded articles will appear and that users will be able to link seamlessly from the embedded article back to Credo. We can enable multiple pages with the same subdomain using a wildcard, so you don't necessarily have to send us each page URL. Please note that the site must be private and/or password protected; LibGuides and other public database pages are not eligible for this access, and must use a different method of authentication.

How to Embed a Page:

  1. In the Credo user interface, find a page you wish to embed. There is no embed code for the homepage on the platform, but your Infobase Admin portal has home page embed icons  (Admin Login required)

  2. Click on the "Share" option in the menu of any entry and choose "Embed"

  4. In your LMS, create an article, or find an existing article, and open the "HTML Editor" or "HTML View" option. Paste the code into this view. If you have trouble saving the code, ask your LMS Admin if your instructor account has permission to add scripts.

To post on a public page, find the HTML option in the page editor and paste the embed code there. LibGuides boxes can be created using the "Media/Widget" option.

How to Embed a Mind Map

1. Run a basic search to find a Mind Map in the results. If there is no Mind Map, try a synonym of your search term.

2. Just below the Mind Map frame, find the "Expand" icon (see orange arrow in the screenshot below)

3. Select "Embed" along the bottom edge, and copy the full embed code with the blue "Copy" button

4. In your LMS, create an article, or find an existing article, and open the "HTML Editor" or "HTML View" option. Paste the code into this view. If you have trouble saving the code, ask your LMS Admin if your instructor account has permission to add scripts.

To add the embed code in LibGuides, click "Add Box" on any page, title the box, and choose Type: Standard. Create the box, and then click "Add/Reorder". Select "Media/Widget" and paste the code into the "Embed Code" field.

Troubleshooting

For help with embedding issues, see this FAQ or contact support@credoreference.com.

Effect on usage stats

  • Embedded Entry or Topic Page: Each view of the page that the Credo entry is embedded on will be logged as one Item Investigation. The "View Article on Site" button must be clicked to be logged as an Item Request and a Title Request. When the custom stats reporting is added to the Infobase Admin portal, each view of the page that the Credo entry is embedded on will count as a Credo session, an entry view, and a page view.
  • Embedded Mind Map: Counts as a session and page view only; not captured in COUNTER R5.
